Mouth-Watering Black-Berry Crisp Recipe

Wanted to share with you a great ‘fall back’ desert.  Not only is it great during Fall, but it is a great last-minute desert.  We have often thrown this together when we invite people over last-minute because it is easy to make while we are in the kitchen making the meal, and it bakes while we are eating to be warm and delicious right when we are ready.

Lets get started

Filling

  • 4 cups fruit (I used black-berries this time. It works with apples, peaches, raspberries…. whatever)
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1 tbsp lemon
  • optional if you are doing apple you can add apple pie spices like cinnamon, nutmeg, and cloves.  Peach goes good with cinnamon.  Different nut extracts also taste good.

Topping (we really like our topping, so this makes it nice and thick)

  • 2 cups oatmeal (not the quick cooking kind, just the straight regular oatmeal)
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1/2 cup oil
  • 1/2 cup flour (I use wheat)

Fruit in first, then topping on top.  Pre-oven it looks like this

Bake at 375 covered for the first 30 minutes until the fruit bubbles over/through the topping.  The edges will bubble first so it is best to make sure it is close to bubbling in the middle.

    This looks so easy and delicious! I have all the ingredients here at home. We are going to make this tomorrow for “home ec” class. Haha 🙂
