Simple Challenge #10 – Ready for Thanksgiving

How did the last simple challenge go?  I learned that the most cluttered part of my life… by far… was my computer.  I spent the better part of 3 days cleaning off both computers and our extra hard drive.  Since we are traveling now it has worked good to do in the car.   It is amazing how many extra files and programs get collected on the computer when I am working on it all the time.  yikes.. but now my computer ‘closets’ are all cleaned out, working quicker, and are easier to use.

Ready for this weeks challenge?

In the USA this week is Thanksgiving – a holiday for being thankful and eating a lot of good food (not for mob shopping at midnight… contrary to some peoples ideas).  The challenge for this week is great if you are celebrating Thanksgiving this week or not.

Completely clear off the counter-tops

This is one of the challenges in Simple Living – 30 days to less stuff and more life, and one of the challenges I have gotten the most feedback on.  Turns out it sounds simple and even silly, but it ends up making a really exciting difference in the house.

Nothing fancy here, just clear off everything from your kitchen counter-tops.  This includes flour containers, coffee pots, blenders, cookbooks, and anything else that has made its home on the counter-top.

If it is something you use all the time you will need to find a cabinet to store it in (you might need to clean out the cabinets to make space).  Less stuff in the kitchen and nothing on the counter-tops makes the whole kitchen easier to live with.

Have fun!

  1. This will be quite the challenge in our kitchen (which is clutter central), but I NEED to do this because our kitchen drives me bonkers, lol! We’ll see how it goes.

    • yeah, it makes a big difference to me… not that my kitchen counters are all cleaned off all the time… but nothing BELONGS on them… so when I get caught up on cleaning, the counters are clean 🙂 I spend so much time in the kitchen that I need it to be simple just for my sanity.
