A huge part of minimalist simple living is recognizing that we truly do have more than we need and the incredible privilege we have to share with others. Simple living often comes from turning the focus outward on how we can help others.

Today I have a guest post about Compassion International for you from Jill.
I am honored to be here today, sharing with you about a ministry that has impacted my life in so many ways. We all know poverty exists. Too often we like to turn our eyes the other way and pretend it’s not there. We wish we could do something to make it go away, but the enormity and complexity of it is overwhelming.

It is terrible to hear about. It is terrible to think about. I wish it would go away if I ignore it, but it won’t.
I would like to think that if I had been alive during slavery I wouldn’t go along with it or ignore it. I would like to believe I would have fought against it. But there are more slaves in the world now than any other time in history. (source)
I found Love146 last week and wanted to share it with you. This is an organization that works to end child sex slavery and exploitation.

Excited to be talking about Mercy Ships today. I heard of this organization a few months ago when I read The Art of Non-Conformity: Set Your Own Rules, Live the Life You Want, and Change the World
Basically, it is a huge hospital ship that has 6 operating rooms and beds for 78 patients. It has a crew from more than 30 countries and offers lifesaving 1st world medical help to nations in West Africa that have very little medical care.

Wow is about all I can say about this girl. I have heard of her before but never really looked into her site. It was my husband that has told me (a few times) that I need to feature her in this section.
Simple answers to a simple problem but such a huge shift from societal norm. Such a huge and gutsy change. But like she says, she is just doing what God tells us to do. Looking at her story makes me uncomfortable with how much I say that I care and how much I actually do.

I got introduced to this amazing company and product through World Vision. I have seen packets of Plumpy’Nut on Samaritan’s purse movies. I am sure lots more organizations use it, but I went to the source to figure out what it is. Turns out it has been around for a while but I hadn’t heard of it.
