I wanted to compile a list of my favorite books to share on my site. I love reading, it is my outlet locked up in a small apartment with kids. So I wanted to write a list of the best. The ones I remember (and my memory is pretty bad), the ones that have changed the way I live my life. These are the books that stick out.
I am always looking for new books to read and love recommendations 🙂
(if there is multiple authors, I just list the first one so you can find the right book)
Spirituality
The Bible – clearly the best and most practical book of all time
Experiencing God: Knowing and Doing the Will of God (Workbook)– book and workbook really challenges subculture christianity vs biblical christianity. I have gone through it several times and really enjoy it.
Crazy Love: Overwhelmed by a Relentless God
Self-Help/Business/Money
Now, Discover Your Strengths – I really liked how he broke down personalities, they have much more than a business application
The 4-Hour Workweek, Expanded and Updated:by Tim Ferriss – This is one of the books that got us to stop dreaming and actually try to create our own lives.
The Total Money Makeover: A Proven Plan for Financial Fitness– Dave Ramsey’s book (or any of his stuff). Great financial advice, easy plan, with a great and motivating presentation.
Health
The China Study: The Most Comprehensive Study of Nutrition Ever Conducted And the Startling Implications for Diet, Weight Loss, And Long-term Healthby T Colin Campbell – really great research… not a quick read but lots of great info
Skinny Bitchby Rory Freedman – kinda like above but a much more fun read
In Defense of Food: An Eater’s Manifesto by Michael Pollan – Brilliant and practical.
Any books by John Robbins, I have read three of his and love them. Food Revolution, The: How Your Diet Can Help Save Your Life and Our World or
Healthy at 100: The Scientifically Proven Secrets of the World’s Healthiest and Longest-Lived Peoples
Home school
The Well-Trained Mind: A Guide to Classical Education at Home (Third Edition)by Susan Wise Bauer – great philosophy, helped me relax on lots of stuff but know where to really hit hard. Effective education.. not busy work 🙂
The Story of the World: History for the Classical Child: by Susan Wise Bauer (co author and daughter of above) – 4 books set that is so easy to understand and full of information. Everything all together, in order. I am enjoying it.
Konos Character Curriculum – A great hands on curriculum that work for all ages. Perfect for home full of kids that need to move and touch and are all in different grades.
