I wanted to write out my kitchen basics, these are things that I always have on hand in bulk and draw from regularly.
Food:
- Beans (canned and dried)
- Rice (mostly long grain brown)
- Potatoes and onions
- Any vegetables that are in season and cheap
- Any fruits that are in season and cheap
- Spices (my favorites are basil, oregano, dill, crushed garlic, and cayenne)
- Crushed or diced, canned tomatoes
- Coconut milk (usually cheapest from small Asian stores)
- Firm tofu (order from Azure Standard)
- Gluten (recipe, make in big batches)
- Frozen vegetables
- Popcorn
- Whole wheat and unbleached flour
- White and brown sugar , maple syrup, agave nectar
- Soymilk (cheapest at Cosco)
- Nuts (whatever I can find at a good price)
- Dark chocolate
- Yeast
- Salsa
- Corn Chips (as natural as I can find)
- Natural Apple Sauce (it is cheapest at Target or Wal-Mart)
- Flax Seed (the golden ones, I get it from the bulk Whole Food bins also)
Kitchen Equipment:
- BlendTech (love this thing, a VitaMix is very similar)
- Cast iron frying pan
- Good metal pots
- Wok
- Pie plate
- 8 x 13 casserole dish
- Popcorn popper
- Mixing bowl
- Colander/strainer
- Coffee grinder (great for grinding flax seeds as well)
